Period 6/7

Boy of the Painted Cave Prewrite

1. I am good at playing all types of video games.

2. When I am playing video games whenever I beat a part of the game I feel good.

3. I feel bored most of the time if people did not let me play video games.

Boy of the painted cave Chapter 1

1. One major conflict in this story is the fact that the clan doesen't get lots of food and they starve. Another fact is that the wolf has has a bone stuck in his mouth and he can't eat.

2. I predict that the resolution to the wolf's problem is that Tao will take the bone out of the wolf's mouth and feed him. I think a resolution to the clan's problem is that they will start cathing more animals and collecting more food.

Boy of the Painted Cave Chapter 2

1. The boy needs to find a rabbit and the wolf has a bone stuck in it's mouth.

Boy of the Painted Cave Chapter 3

1. Tao and Ram learn to hunt together for example the rabbits.

2. The decision Tao tells Volt is that he wants to hunt on his own instead of with the clan's hunters.

3. Iam Volt and I think Tao is a very foolish boy he is very disrespectful. Tao has betrayed the clan to not hunt with clan.Tao should not be here if he cannot respect the clan.

Boy of the Painted Cave Chapter 8

A young girl's parents had a religion where she had to be home schooled, but she wanted to go to a public school where she could meet new people. She only had one friend and unfortualnately it was her snobby older sister. One day this girl stood her parents and told them that she didn't want to be home schooled and she wants to go to a public school. Her parents were shocked and said no way. So one day she went to a school and signed up for Saturday School. From there on she would go to a Saturday School while her parents think that she goes to the park.Well it turns out she was 5 years behind in school.

Boy of the Painted Cave Chapter 9

1. Graybeard changed his mind because he wanted Tao to be able to use that privalage for good because he knows Tao loves to draw.

2. This tells us that his character does not hold grudges. He also cares a lot about what Toa loves to do because that is also what he loves to do.

Boy of the Painted Cave Chapter 11

Yes I think Graybeard is a good teacher beacause he makes sure that Tao does it right and Tao does something wrong he stops him and tells him the right way to do it. I would like to be taught a skill by Graybeard because he makes sure that you do it perfect. And also because he showed Tao how to make his drawings become real. It would be cool if I could draw that good that my drawings looked alive or as if they were coming alive.

Quote- " Outside, a car door slams. I wait until I hear my father's footeps in the front hall. "" Anyone home?... Ellie? Kids?"" His voice sounds stumbly tonight. Which is not a good sign."

Journal- Samantha says this because her father is an acoholic who always comes home drunk. She gets very upset about the fact that he does this. In this quote it is at a time while her father is just getting home, and he is drunk, and you could probably tell that she is not very happy about. I think it is a sad thing that her father does this, and she must have/has a hard time with he fact that he comes home like this pratically every night.

Quote- " And the whole while, I am thinking, How? How on Earth is ths possible? But then I realize that no one at the office knows my father spent Friday night passed out a cardboard box."

Journal- At this point Samantha is wondering why her father got promotion at work. Which may seem kind of wierd because usually a girl would be happy for her father for getting a promotion, but she wonders because of the fact that he is a big acoholic. She wonders how it is possible that with her and her family he is always drunk, and doesn't seem like the type of person that would be getting a promotion, yet at work..... he is. She then figures that this is because at work they don't know he is an acoholic, and they haven't seen the things he has done for that reason, and it is like at work....... he is a whole different person. I think the way she is feelig is normal because if I was in her situation right now I would probably been wondering the same exact thing.

Quote- " Click, click, click,
Juice splashing against the Feingold project blueprints.
Click, click, click.
Dad raising the bottle in the air over Luke's head.
Click, click, click.
Bottle cracking against Luke's face.
Click, click, click.
Blood. Everywhere."

Journal- At this point of the story her dad was working on blueprints while drinking (even though he said he would stop). Samantha was jumping around playing with her little brother Luke, and then her father walks in drunk with a drink in his hand, and his blueprints for work in the other hand. Samantha then stopped jumping, but Luke kept jumping. While Luke was jumping he had a cup of juice in his hand and his juice flew in the air and landed right on his father's blueprints. Samantha and Luke's father got very upset (while drunk) and Luke in the face with his drink. I think this was a very sad, depressing, and disapointing moment for Samatha. Of course after this happened Samantha went straight to her nieghbors house and got them to drive her and her little brother to the hospital ( because Samantha's mother wasn't home). Her father was also put in a place to help with his problem (drinking problem).

Quote- " I hear the voice and look up. There he is. My father, standing in the doorway. My father, wearing a blue checkered shirt I've never seen before, and a new side part in his hair. Calling me Sammy."

Journal- At this point of the story Samantha's new friend Jesse ( who she wrote notes to before she ever met him, telling him about her life it notes by leaving it at a certain spot in a book at the library) brought her to The Barn which is where her father went to take care of his problem. Jesse brought her here so she can visit and talk to her father ( which she did for a while). I think that this was a very, very emotional moment for her (escpecially considering the fact that she hasn't seen him for a long time).

Title- Fame, Glory, and other things on my to do list

Pages- 1-55

Quote- " I'm not sure why this suprised me. Maybe because his last name is hunter."

Journal- At this point Jessica was out with a boy named Jordan and she asked him if he hunted, and he said no. It suprised her because his last name was " Hunter". This was probably an akward moment for her because if I was in her place right there and then I would feel pretty wierd and embarressed.

Quote- " Yes he was, and I had to stop noticing that aspect of him. Jordan needed help with his acting. That's all."

Journal- At this point Jessica and Jordan were practicing for the play they were going to do. Jessica began thinking about how good she thought Jordan looked and then noticed she was getting off track, and she went back to practicing. I think that Jessica probably felt wierd at that point thinking that way about a guy friend the way she was. because I know that I would feel wierd.

Art Forms of the Gupta Empire

I am doing my report on Art forms in the Gupta Empire (Ancient India). I am going to talk about painting, sculpture, and metalwork. All these art forms can have a religious meaning to them but do not always do. I thought that researching art forms in ancient times would be an interesting topic and it was.

In this paragraph I am going to talk about painting in the Gupta Empire (Ancient India). One of the things that the Gupta Empire was for was the paintings that they made. Their paints were made from minerals and clay that they have. Their paints were made with rich bright colors so that they could be noticed. The paintings they made were done on long scrolls. They made paintings from small portraits to large murals.

In this paragraph I am going to talk about metalwork in the Gupta Empire (Ancient India). They had mines of gold, copper, and iron. The kings controlled these mines. They engraved coins made of gold and copper. Their coin engravements honored Gupta rulers as ours honor presidents. An example of their skill is Meharauli, which is an iron pillar that is 24 feet tall and weighs 13,000 pounds.

In this paragraph I am going to talk about sculpture in the Gupta Empire (Ancient India). Their statues were made of stone, wood, bronze, terra cotta clay, and ivory. They sometimes carved cave temples to the side of mountains. Their sculptures were made with lots of beautiful detail. Some sculptures showed parts of peoples’ lives. Their sculptures were sometimes made into people simply and full of grace.

This is my report on Art forms of the Gupta Empire (Ancient India). I hope that you thought it was interesting.
